Using the following steps we can create how to create metric dashboard component in Salesforce Lightning.

1. As we know, we need at least one row or column-wise grouping in the reports. I have created a report on the Lead object in that I created a group with the Lead Source field.

Using this report, we will create a metric chart dashboard to show how many records are there in the Lead object. From that count we can also decide flag rang of that count.

2. First, log in to the Salesforce org. -> Click on the Gear icon. -> Under the gear icon you will see Setup option, click on it. -> Then you can see Home tab -> on the Home Page you can see, there is a dotted icon called App Launcher. Click on it.

Search for the Dashboards, and you will get the Dashboards option under the Items. Click on the Dashboards option.

3. To create the new dashboard, click the New Dashboard button on the right side of the screen.

4. Then, we need to add a report. For that, click on the + Widget option, and within that, click on the Chart or Table option.

5. Then, you will see the reports, and you can select the report on which you want to create a line chart dashboard. I will use the Lead Source report and click the Select button.

6. Here, you can see in the report field the report you have selected is displayed. Then, we have the option to Use chart settings from the report. If we check that checkbox, then if we have a chart on that report, that will fetch in the dashboard chart.

After that, you can see there are some components. Here, we have to select the Metric Chart component, and as we click on that, the Preview will be displayed.

7. In the Measure Field we can select what we want to display as an final count, here I have selected Record count so that we can see its displaying the total 18 records.

In the Ranges field we can enter number as per our requirement and from that range we can also gives the color as an indicator.

Then click the Add button, to add this chart on the dashboard canvas.

8. You can see the below the dashboard there is a label View Report(Lead Status Report) as we click on that label it will redirect on to the report.

As we click the add button, the dashboard will display the stacked report according to the defined axis and stack. Then, to save the dashboard, click on the Save button.
