1. Click on the App Launcher, search sales, and then select Marketing app.

2. Now, look at the tabs and select Leads.

3. To create a new lead, click on the New button.

4. Now, enter the required fields, such as Last Name, Company, and Lead Status. If you want, you can also use other lead information, address information, additional information, and description information, and we can also assign using the active assignment rule. Finally, click on the Save button.

Businesses can develop various lead record types to tailor the lead-capturing process to fit their sales processes and consumer groups. For instance, a business might have many lead record types for B2B and B2C leads or for leads that come from various marketing sources.

Create Lead Record type in Salesforce
To create a lead record, type in Salesforce, navigate to the Setup page, and follow the steps below.
Note: Please note that before moving forward with the steps to create a new Lead Record Type, we need a Lead Process. However, if you want to create a new Lead Process, you can follow this tutorial: How to create Lead Process in Salesforce.
1. Click on the Setup option –> Select the Object Manager tab.

2. Click on the Lead object. Next, from the left side menu, click on the Record Types option. On the Record Types page, click on the New button. This will open the New Record Type page for the Lead object.

3. Enter the details” section; we need to specify the following fields:
- Existing Record Type: We will keep it as default, i.e., Master.
- Record Type Label: This is used to specify the display name for the record type in Salesforce.
- Record Type Name: This field specifies the internal name for the record type in Salesforce. The name will be utilized internally in Salesforce, such as for API and Apex code.
- Lead Process: This is used to specify the steps or stages a lead goes through in the sales process. For instance, you might have stages like Contacted, New, Qualified, and Closed/Won.
- Description: This concise explanation of the record type can help users understand its functionality or use.
- Active: This checkbox shows whether the record type is active right now or not.

In this example, we specified the following values for these fields.
- Record Type Label: US Real Estate Lead
- Record Type Name: US_Real_Estate_Lead
- Lead Process: USASalesLead
4. After specifying the details, we also need to select the profile to whom this Record Type will be available. Once this step is completed, click on the Next button. Assign page layouts section, and we need to select the appropriate page layout.

Once this step is completed, click on the Save button to save the New Lead Record Type in Salesforce Lightning.

By completing the steps above, we have successfully created a new Lead Record Type in Salesforce named “US Real Estate Lead.”
