How to Add Dashboard to Home Page in Salesforce

Recently, while working on a Sales application in Salesforce, I observed that the Dashboard tab was not available. So, here are the steps to add the Dashboard to the Salesforce home page.

What is Home Page in Salesforce

A Salesforce home page is the first thing users see when they login to their account. It is a central hub for managing daily tasks and workflows within the platform. A Salesforce Home page is customizable, allowing users to personalize the layout and display information that’s relevant to their roles and responsibilities.

Moreover, it displays recent records, tasks, events, and dashboards, giving users quick access to important information and insights. Also, third-party apps and tools can be accessed from the Home page, making it convenient for managing all aspects of one’s workflow.

How to Add Dashboard to Home Page in Salesforce Lightning

Here are the steps that we can follow for this task in Salesforce:

1. Go to Gear Icon –> Click on Setup –> Enter the App Builder in Quick Find Box –> Select the Lightning App Builder.

2. The Setup page for Lightning App Builder is open. From this page, click on the New button to create a new Lightning page.

3. Now select “Home Page” and click the Next button. Next, specify the name for your custom home page and click Next. In our example, we specified “Custom Home.”

Now select the appropriate page layout for your custom home page and click on Finish. In our case, we selected the Standard Home Page template

4. We have created a layout for our custom home page. From the left-side menu, drag and drop the dashboard component. You can also drag and drop other required components.

5. Next, click on the Activation option given with the Save button. Once we click on this option, we need to set this page as default either for Org, App, or Profile.

6. Once this option is selected based on the requirement, the new Home page with a dashboard is activated. Now, we need to click on the Save button.

With this, we have successfully added a dashboard to the Home page in Salesforce.

Salesforce Change Home Page Dashboard

To change the home page dashboard, click on the custom home page that we already created. From the left-side menu, drag and drop the dashboard component. You can also drag and drop other required components.

If you want to change the previously uploaded component, delete it or place another component in its place and hit the save button.

How to Add Dashboard to Home Page in Salesforce Classic

Here are the following steps:

1. Log in to your Salesforce account, navigate to the Home page, and click on the Setup option given in the top right corner.

2. Next, from the Quick Find search box, search for Home Page and click on the Home Page Layouts.

3. After this, click on the Edit option for “DE Default” given under the list of “Home Page Layouts.

4. The “Edit Home Layout” page is open. On this page, tick marks the “Dashboard Snapshot” option. Now, scroll down the current page, click on the Next button, and then click Save & Assign.

5. Now, navigate to the particular Home page in Salesforce Classic, and we can observe that the Dashboard section has been added to it.

With this, we have successfully added the Dashboard to the Home page of the Salesforce Classic edition.
