Follow the below-given steps to convert a lead to an opportunity in salesforce lightning:
Step 1: Click on the App Launcher, then select Marketing app.

Step 2: Look at the tabs and select Leads.

Step 3: Click on a specific Lead Name to whom you want to convert into an opportunity. Here, I select Kathy Snyder.

Step 4: Click on the Converted lead status button.

Step 5: Then, click on Select Converted Status.

Step 6: Pop up page will appear on the screen, where you can update the Opportunity name.
Everything on the left side of the page is used to create a new opportunity record, while everything on the right is used to attach the lead to an existing opportunity if detects a duplicate record.
Step 7: After filling in the fields, click on Convert.

Step 8: After converting, you will see the link to the newly created opportunity.

Step 2: Look at the tabs and select Leads.

Step 3: Click on a specific Lead Name to whom you want to convert into an opportunity. Here, I select Bill Dadio Jr.

Step 4: Click on the ⬇ next to the Submit for Approval, and select the Convert option.

Step 5: Pop up page will appear on the screen, where you can update the Opportunity name.
Step 6: Click Convert once the fields have been filled in.

Step 7: Upon conversion, a link to the newly generated opportunity will be visible.

Step 1: Click on avatar, and select Switch to Salesforce Classic.

Step 2: Select the Sales app, by clicking on the ⬇ in the top right corner.

Step 4: Click on a specific lead Name to whom you want to convert into an opportunity. Here, I select David Jones.

Step 5: Click on the Convert button.

Step 6: To convert a lead to an opportunity, we set a new Opportunity Name. Here, I set it to Walmart-Butter Sales.
When you convert a lead, you will have the option to not create a new opportunity. If you want, simply check the checkbox.
Step 7: Finally, click on the Convert button.
