I recently updated and modified the Page Layout of the Lead object in Salesforce. However, the sales team encountered an issue when converting a Lead Record to an Opportunity. Here, the Convert button on the record page of the Lead object was missing.
In this Salesforce tutorial, we will discuss how to check and add the Convert button when it is not visible on the Lead record page in Salesforce Lightning.

Usually, we can access the Convert button by clicking on the drop-down icon (⬇️) given next to the Clone button. But in our case, this button was missing from the record page.
Reasons why the Convert button on lead is not visible in Salesforce Lightning
In Salesforce, the Convert button can convert a Lead record into an account, opportunity, or contact. This feature helps the Sales team optimize the workflow and prevents data duplication.
There could be multiple reasons why the convert button is not visible in Salesforce Lightning. Some common reasons for Salesforce are listed below.
- Don’t have Convert Leads Permission: The convert button on the Lead object will not be visible when the user doesn’t have permission to edit the lead records.
- Lead Status picklist values are not configured: This issue could also arise when the Lead Status value is not set to “Converted.”
- Convert button not added on Page layout: The convert button is not included in the page layout for the Lead object. Moreover, the Convert button will also not be visible when we don’t properly include it in the page layout.
The following sections will cover the solution for each of these issues in Salesforce Lightning.
Solutions: Convert button on lead not visible in Salesforce Lightning
Now that we understand why the Convert button on lead is not visible in Salesforce Lightning, we can try the solutions. However, we will try to cover solutions to each issue discussed in the previous section.
Solution-1: Check Convert Leads Permission in Salesforce Lightning
If the user wants to update the lead record, such as converting a lead, he must have permission to do so.
To check the Lead conversion permissions in Salesforce Lightning, navigate to the setup page and follow the steps below.
1. On the setup page, search the Quick Find box, then select Profiles under the heading Users.

2. On the profile setup page, select the profile of the user who is unable to view the Convert option on the lead record page.
In my case, I created the Sales team profile with the Standard Platform user’s license.

3. Now, scroll down to the “General User Permissions” section and look for the Convert Leads option. If the option is disabled, mark (✔️) this checkbox field and click the Save button.

4. Now, log in with one of the Sales team users. To do so, open the profile -> View Users -> click the Login button of any user.

5. After that, navigate to the leads record page, and there, you will see that the Convert button is visible on the Lead record page.

This way, we can give users access to update or convert the leads records in Salesforce Lightning.
If the Convert button is not visible on the lead record page in your Salesforce instance, then proceed with the solution steps below.
Solution-2: Configure Lead Status Picklist Values in Salesforce Lightning
Salesforce leads have a picklist field, Lead Status, which shows whether a specific lead is open or closed.
These picklist fields have four standard values, and to make the convert button appear on the lead record page, one of the picklist values must be activated in the Converted column.
Follow the steps below to configure the Lead Status picklist values and enable the convert lead option for the appropriate value.
1. Click on the Object Manager option in the navigation bar. Then, from the list of objects, click on the Lead object.

2. On the lead setup page, click on Fields & Relationships. From the list of fields, select Lead Status.

3. Open the Lead status in Edit mode. In the field information section, go to the field Data Owner and select the group or user for whom you want to make the Convert option visible.

Also, ensure that one of the Converted values is activated in the Lead Status Picklist Values.
After making the above changes, click on the Save button.

As we click the Save button, the selected user or the group will have view and edit access to the lead records and be able to convert the lead using the Convert button.
I hope this will fix the issue; if not, you can try the solution below.
Solution-3: Include the Convert button in the page layout for the Lead object in Salesforce Lightning
To make the Convert button appear on the lead record page, we need to add it to the page layout of the lead object. To do so, navigate to Salesforce Lighting’s setup page and follow the above steps.
1. On the setup page, click on the Object Manager tab and click on the Lead object in the next window.
2. In the Lead’s setup window, click on Page Layouts. Then, click on the lead object’s default page layout.

3. In the page layout setup, click Mobile & Lightning Actions and drag the Convert button to the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.
At last, click on the Save button to apply the changes.

Once we complete the steps, the Convert button will be visible on the Leads Record page. We can access this button by clicking the drop-down icon (⬇️) next to the Clone button.

This way, we can add the Convert button on the Lead record page in Salesforce Lightning.
Conclusion
After following the above solutions, I hope the Convert button will be visible on the Salesforce lead record page for the users. If it is still not visible, please leave a comment about the issue you are facing when accessing the Convert button on the Lead record page.
