In Salesforce, each object has an activity timeline that shows the activities that the user can perform related to records. The activity timeline includes various buttons that perform actions such as email, log a call, tasks, etc.
The New Task button in Salesforce is utilized to record a task that might be linked to a record. But sometimes, new task button not showing in Lightning. Let’s learn the steps to solve the error: new task button is not visible in Lightning.

New Task button not showing in Salesforce Lightning
Below are the steps to solve the error of the Salesforce new task button not showing.
Step-1: First, open the Home Steup page in Salesforce Lightning by clicking on the gear icon (⚙️) and then click on the Setup option.

Step-2: Click on the Object Manager option. This will open a list of items under the Object Manager page, choose the Object where the New Task button is missing.
In my case, I click on the Account object.

Step-3: From the side menu, click on the Page Layout option.

Step-4: After this, it will open a page layouts list, and from the list, select the page layout where you want to include the button. Here I selected the Account Layout option.

Step-5: Next, from the Accounts Layout options, move to the Mobile & Lightning Actions section. And under this section, we will find the New Task button.
So, we need to drag the New Task button from the Mobile & Lightning Actions section to Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions tab.
Moreover, in the last, we need to click on the Save button.

It successfully added the New Task button to the Activity Timeline in Salesforce Lightning Edition. You can check the Activity Timeline, where the New Task button is added.
