I worked in an organization that uses Salesforce CRM. Recently, we launched a new product and ran a campaign to promote it. Now, the team manager has asked me to create a report on the newly launched product campaign so that they can analyze the campaign’s impact. For that, I created a summary report on the campaign object in Salesforce.
Here, I will explain how creating a campaign report can be helpful. Then, we will see how to create a campaign report in Salesforce with examples and step-by-step explanations.
Campaign Report in Salesforce
Campaign reports in Salesforce are important for tracking and improving marketing activity. These reports help us track the performance of our campaigns by providing important data such as lead generation, conversion rates, and revenue impact.
This helps identify successful approaches, allowing for improved resource allocation and increased return on investment (ROI). These reports help you make better choices by providing analysis based on data, allowing you to change your plan in real-time to improve outcomes. These reports also help track the lead process, providing insights into lead progression and the effectiveness of various interactions.
Create a Campaign Report in Salesforce
- Click on App Launcher -> Search “Reports” -> Click on Reports. Then click the New Report button to create a report.

- Then, under the Category, click on the option All. Then select or search for the Campaign Object. Then click on the Start Report button.

- Now, add the necessary columns/fields that you want to display in the report so that we can quickly analyze the amounts and responses by a particular campaign.

- Create the group by rows based on the field you want to display the data in. Here, I want to display metrics of the campaign that has completed its status.
- To do so, click the dropdown arrow on the column for which you want to create a group and then click Group Rows by This Field.

- When you group any column, the report automatically converts into a summary report. Using the summary report, we can get the subtotal and final total, which helps us analyze the report.
- Here, you can see that after grouping the campaign status, we got a “completed” campaign. Then, with the help of fields/columns that we added to the report, we could easily track campaign performance with critical data such as response, the actual cost of the campaign, and revenue impact.

This way, we can create a report on the campaign in Salesforce and make quick decisions based on data analysis.
Create a Campaign Report With Campaign Members in Salesforce
For example, you want to analyze how many leads were generated, how many opportunities were created, and the revenue attributed to these campaigns. Identify the most successful methods and approaches within the campaign.
Campaign Members in Salesforce
Campaign Members in Salesforce are the people (Leads or Contacts) associated with the particular marketing campaign. They allow you to see who was targeted by the campaign and how they responded to it.
In the following steps, I explained how to create a campaign report with campaign members in Salesforce.
- Navigate to the Report tab and click the New Report button.
- Select the Campaign with Campaign Members. Then click on the Start Report button.

- Add the fields that you want to display in the report so that you can evaluate the performance of these campaigns using those fields.

- Group the report by “campaign name” to see the performance of each campaign. For that, click the dropdown arrow on the column for which you want to create a group and then click Group Rows by This Field.

- Here, we group the report by campaign name, and we can easily see both campaign details and associated leads/contacts. We can also analyze the number of campaign members we got and the number of them who responded and converted leads.
- By creating the campaign with a campaign member report, we can differentiate the actual cost spent on the campaign and the amount we get after selling the product.

This way, we can create a report on the campaign with campaign members and analyze which campaigns generated the most business results during the campaign.
