Recently, while modifying the application layout according to the client’s requirements, we created some custom tabs. To make these tabs available to users, we have to add them to the lightning pages.
Here, I will explain what tabs are in Salesforce and their types. Then, I will show you various ways to add or remove tabs in Salesforce. Additionally, we will see how we can reorder tabs that have already been added to the app in Salesforce.
Tabs in Salesforce
A Salesforce tab is a way to navigate to an object. It allows users to access specific sections containing information on available data, activities, and tools. With tabs, we can access related lists like activities, cases, and opportunities, which helps reduce information clutter on a single page.
These tabs are placed on the navigation bar in applications, whether standard or custom. However, it is not always necessary that all the tabs are present in the app; maybe later on, according to the requirement, you want another tab in the app or want to remove it from any app.
So, in Salesforce, we can easily customize the tabs by adding, removing, and even reordering them.
Below are the following pages where we can add tabs in Salesforce:
- Navigation Bar Menu in Salesforce.
- Salesforce Lightning Record Page.
Navigation Bar Menu in Salesforce
The navigation bar in Salesforce is a menu at the top of the screen where we can place the standard and custom tabs in Salesforce. The tabs represent different sections like Home, Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, and more. We can click on these tabs to access the information or data related to the particular object.

Add Tabs to The Navigation Bar Menu in Salesforce
There are two different ways to add the created tabs to the navigation bar menu in Salesforce:
