In recent modifications to the Salesforce record page layouts in my org, I added a custom tab on the record page of an Account object to provide additional information about the related activities of the specific account record.
I will explain the tabs in Salesforce and how to add them to Lightning Record Pages. We will discuss the whole process in detail, using examples to help you better understand.
What is a Tab in Salesforce?
In Salesforce, tabs are the user interface elements deployed at the front end. They allow users to access specific sections containing information on available data, activities, and tools.
With tabs, we can access related lists like activities, cases, and opportunities, which helps reduce information clutter on a single page.
Adding custom tabs on record pages helps maintain a structured and organized way to store information and ease user and administrator experience. This allows us to customize and organize the data on the record page.
Add Tabs on the Salesforce Lightning Record page.
Login to your Salesforce account and follow the steps below to Add Tabs on Salesforce Lightning Record Pages.
1. On the Salesforce Lightning setup page, click on the App Launcher, then search and select the object to which you have to add a tab on the record page.
In this example, I have selected the Account object.

2. Open any record in the Account tab. The changes we make on this record page will be reflected in all the account object records.

3. In the Account record page, click on the Gear Icon on the upper left side of the screen, and in the dropdown, click on Edit Page.

4. To add the tab, go to the screen’s right and click the Add Tab button after selecting the tab type from the heading Tab label.
We have the option to add a standard or custom tab. I have selected the Custom option here.
Enter the tab’s name in the Custom Label field after selecting the tab. In this case, I named it Information, the last click on the Done button.

5. The record page layout has a new tab, ‘Information.’ To add a standard component to the tab, drag the element to the tab region, as shown in the picture below, and then click the Save button.

6. Return to the record page and exit the Lightning app builder. The custom tab, Information, has been added and is visible on the record page layout.

This way, we successfully added a tab to a Record Page in Salesforce Lightning through a lighting application.
Remove and Reorder the Tab on the Record Page in Salesforce
The steps below show you how to remove and reorder the Salesforce Lightning record page tabs.
Reorder Tabs on a Record Page
To reorder the tabs:

After reordering the tabs, click the Save button to apply the changes.
Delete Tabs on the Record Page
To delete any standard or custom tab in the Salesforce Lightning record page, open the record page in the Lightning app builder and click on the tabs region.
You will see a list of tabs on the right-hand side, and from there, you can remove or delete the tab from the cross sign ‘
