While working for a Non-profit organization using Salesforce as a CRM tool, the marketing team was creating a fundraising campaign. However, the New button was not visible on the Campaigns tab, so creating a new campaign was impossible.
Then, I checked the configurations and discovered that the marketing team didn’t have the required permissions to create campaigns. Now, I will explain how I resolved the issue of the ‘New‘ button missing on Campaigns in Salesforce Lightning.
New Button Missing on Campaigns in Salesforce – Reasons
In Salesforce, we often face issues like buttons or Quick Actions missing from List View or Record Page.
When we create new records, the New button for the Campaigns object is usually easily found on the List View page.

However, sometimes when we try to create a record, the new button is missing.

Before we proceed to the steps and solution, let’s review the issue. We will understand why the New button is missing from the Salesforce Object.
Reason-1: Permissions Issue
- This issue usually occurs when the user does not have the permissions of a Marketing User in Salesforce.
- The Marketing Users permissions encompass a range of permissions necessary for executing marketing-related tasks.
- These permissions typically include creating email templates and managing Leads and campaigns.
So, if the user does not have the Marketing User permission, the New button will not appear because that user does not have the proper permissions to create campaigns in Salesforce.
Reason-2: Page Layout Configuration
- Now, even if the user accessing the Campaigns object has the Marketing User permission.
- However, the New button still does not appear, which indicates a Page Layout Configuration issue.
New Button Missing on Campaigns in Salesforce – Solutions
We will see how to enable or add the New Button Missing on Campaigns in Salesforce using the following steps.
Assign Marketing User permissions in Salesforce
1. Log into your Salesforce Org. -> Setup. -> Home Page. -> Quick Find Box. -> Search for ‘Users‘ and click on it.

4. Click on the Edit option to configure permission for the user who can’t see the New button.

5. On the User Edit page, look for the Marketing User option and enable it by ticking the checkbox (✔️).

6. Last, click on the Save button to save our changes.
So, by the end of this section, we all understood how to enable Marketing User permission in Salesforce.
Configuring Campaign Page Layout in Salesforce
Here, we will discuss the steps for checking if the New button is enabled for the Campaign object’s page layout.
1. Setup. -> Object Manager. -> Click on Campaign Object.

2. Now, click on the List View Button Layout option.
- On the List View Button Layout page, click on the drop-down (⬇️) icon corresponding to the List View option and click on the Edit option.

3. After clicking the Edit option, a Campaign List View page in Salesforce Lightning will open. Under the Standard Buttons section on this page, enable the New [New] option.
- Once we select the New [New] option, click the Save button to save all the changes.

After making the above changes, navigate to the Campaigns tab of Salesforce Lightning, and the New button will be visible in the list view.

This is how we can enable or add the New Button Missing on Campaigns in Salesforce.
