Email Deliverability in Salesforce
Communication with contacts, leads, external users, and users is a very common and day-to-day concept in Salesforce. So, it is very necessary that email is successfully delivered to the clients.
To manage the successful delivery of the email from Salesforce to the recipient’s inbox is known as email deliverability in Salesforce. It also has the features of email authentication, spam filters, sender reputations, etc.
It is like if your email is spammed email, there is a very low chance of the opening rate of the email, so deliverability helps to maintain the authentication and high email opening chances.
Even the deliverability of the email makes sure that the email reaches the accurately without spam and also enhances the experience. So, to maintain email deliverability in Salesforce, there are different types of email deliverability settings you can set. Let’s see each of them.
Salesforce Email Deliverability Settings
In Salesforce, there are three types of email deliverability settings that you can choose from:
- No Access
- System Email
- All Email
No Access: No access setting is used to block all the outgoing emails that being sent by Salesforce. This can be helpful when you require to temporarily disable all communication from Salesforce like during a preservation window or when fine-tuning email-related issues.
System Email only: System Email only is used as a setting, only system-generated emails, like email alerts and reset emails, and can be sent from Salesforce. This system email setting makes sure that fault-finding system emails are not blocked by spam filters or noticeable as spam by the email provider.
All Email: All setting emails permit all the outgoing emails from Salesforce and involve mass emails and email templates to be sent. This setting gives the most flexibility from an email communication from Salesforce. It also brings the significant risk of emails being blocked by spam filters or noticeable as spam by the email provider.
Now, to set up these settings in the email deliverability in Salesforce you need to enable email deliverability in Salesforce.
How to Enable Email Deliverability in Salesforce
Below are the steps to enable email deliverability in Salesforce.
Step-1: Log into your Salesforce account. Click the Gear icon and select the Setup option to navigate to the Setup. Then, enter the Deliverability in the Quick Find box and click on it.

Step-2: Choose the most relevant Email Access Level Settings. You will get three options, select the accurate one. For example, choose the All Email access level.

Step-3: Additionally, you can add the following feature as the settings of the deliverability email as per the need.
| Bounce Management | The activate bounce management is already selected. It sends an email back when you, by mistake, send an email to an invalid email address. You can also check the return bounced emails to the sender. It will display the bounce alert with the bounced message. |
| Data Protection and Privacy | You can enable the data protection and privacy settings. This setting has no effect on the Email Opt Out setting in contacts, leads, and personal accounts. Moreover, to turn on the email protection you also turn on Data Protection and Privacy. Privacy settings are enforced regardless of record visibility. |
| Email Security Compliance | By default, this option is checked. It basically improves the delivery of the email who use the email security and authentication system. Optionally, you can enable the sender ID compliance. It treats emails as coming from an authorized IP address. |
| Transport Layer Security | You can set up the TLS settings for the outbound emails. |
| Email Sending Domain Ownership | You can verify the ownership of email-sending domains by DKIM keys; when users send emails, the email address verification status check will be bypassed. |
Then, click on the Save button to save the settings of the email deliverability to enable it.

The popup message occurs on the top of the page that represents your organization’s email settings have been saved.

In this way, you can enable the email deliverability settings in Salesforce.
Test Email Deliverability Salesforce
Once you set up the setting of the email deliverability, it is necessary to check whether it is working properly or not. For this test deliverability of email in Salesforce is there.
Test deliverability refers to sending test emails to ensure that email notifications and alerts reach their intended receiver. This process includes confirming that the email addresses are correctly arranged.
It may be possible that the email is routed through different Salesforce IP addresses, and maybe some of them are blocked by the recipients, and for that reason, they will not receive the email.
So, to check that from all the possible IP addresses, the client is receiving the email or not, the test deliverability feature is used. It allows you to send an email to your email address from each of the IP addresses.
You will see all the emails if none of the IP addresses is blocked from your side.
How to Check Email Deliverability in Salesforce
Below are the steps to check email deliverability in Salesforce.
Step-1: Navigate to the Setup, search for Test Deliverability in Quick Find, and click on it.

Step-2: Enter your email in the Email Address field on which you want to check whether the email deliverability is working or not. At the moment, you will only get up to 32 emails.
Then, click on the Send button to test the delivery of the email.

Step-3: You will get the pop-up message generated at the top of the page that 16 test messages have been sent to this email address. After sending the test email, check the delivery status of those emails.

Open the email whose email address you mention for testing, and you can see that the test email received is sent by Salesforce and it consists of the IP addresses.

In this way, you can test the deliverability of the email in Salesforce.
