While working in a Sales team of an organization that uses Salesforce CRM, we used to regularly review the quarterly sales performance report. Recently, we had to create a report for a specific product category, and we checked that we already had a report similar to that. So, we decided to clone that report instead of creating one from scratch.
Here, I will explain why cloning a report is necessary and show you how to clone a report in Salesforce.
Why Need to Clone a Report in Salesforce?
In Salesforce, cloning a report allows users to duplicate existing reports, saving time and maintaining consistency in analyzing data. Salesforce data can be challenging and large to maintain, so cloning is necessary to protect the original files if modifications are needed.
When working with large amounts of data, you are likely to need to modify it, try out different formats, or add new filters to the report.
Cloning reports in Salesforce is a time-saving approach. Instead of starting from scratch when a similar report is needed, users can clone an existing report and make necessary adjustments. This speeds up the reporting process and ensures consistency in data representation.
Clone a Report in Salesforce
In the following steps, I explained step by step how we can clone a report in Salesforce.
1. If you already created a Report tab while creating an App, then you click on the Report tab.

OR
2. Click on App Launcher -> Search “Reports” -> Click on Reports.

3. From the list of reports, now click on the report that you want to clone.

4. You can see that the report has opened. Now, click on the dropdown arrow icon beside the Edit button and select the Save As option.

5. Now, enter a new name for the cloned report. This will help you to identify the existing and cloned reports. Then, select the folder where you want to store this cloned report.
Click the Save button to save the cloned report.

Now, we can modify this cloned report as per our requirement; this will not affect our existing report.

This is how to clone reports from existing reports in Salesforce.
Conclusion
I hope you have an idea about why cloning a report in Salesforce is necessary. We have seen a scenario for cloning a report, and according to that scenario, I explained step by step how we can clone a report from an existing report in Salesforce.
