Salesforce Time Field can be used to track a particular time in Salesforce.
Recently, while working on Salesforce, I was assigned the task of managing time and event planning for the Salesforce website. To fulfill this requirement, I used the Time Field Type.

The time field type in Salesforce is defined as a field type used to track time, manage time, plan events, and manage projects.
This time field is a timestamp that does not involve the date. It is used when we need a time of day it is not particular to a single day. It also manages time and schedule posts on the website.
For example, if a family books a hotel for booking a hotel, they can enter the check-in time and the check-out time. For this check-in and check-out time, we use the time field type. The time field type can use 24-hour notation
Now, let’s move further and see how to create the time field type in Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic.
How to Create a Time Field in Salesforce Lightning
Here, we are creating a time field in Salesforce Lightning.
Here, we are taking an example. We are using the opportunity object. Inside the opportunity object, we want to add the time field that helps us track the time related to the particular opportunity.
Here are the following steps:
1. Click on the Gear Icon, select the Setup option, and then click on the object manager tab.

2. Here, we want to select the opportunity object. Enter the opportunity object in the search box. Click on the opportunity object.

3. Under this opportunity object page, there is a details section with Fields & Relationships options. Click on the Fields & Relationships option.

4. For creating the field type click on the new button.

5. Here, we are selecting the time field. The time field allows users to enter a local time and then click on the next button.

6. Now enter the details: first, fill the Field Label as time duration and then the field name. Click on the next button.

7. Now establish field-level security. Select the profiles to which we want to grant edit access to this field via field-level security. Click on the next button.

8. Now, add the custom field to the page layout. Select the page layout that should include this field. Click on the save button.

9. Go to the App Launcher, enter the opportunity in the search box, and select the opportunity object.
The opportunity object record page is open. There is a details section. Under this section, we can see that the time field type is created, and we can set the time duration according to the user’s suitable time.

How to create the time field type in Salesforce Classic
Here, we are creating the time field type in Salesforce Classic.
Here are the following steps:
1. Click on the Profile Picture, select the Switch to Salesforce Classic option, and then select the Setup option.

2. Enter the lead in the Quick Find Box. Click on the lead drop-down menu. The drop-down list is open, under this drop-down list there is a field option. Click on the fields option.

3. The Lead custom field page opens. Scroll to the bottom of the page; there is a lead custom Fields & Relationships section. To create a new field, click on the new button.

4. Here, we are selecting the Time field at the bottom of the page. Click on the next button.

5. Now enter the details: first, fill in the Field Label as Time Limit and then the field name. Click on the next button.

6. Now, establish the field-level security. Select the profiles to which we want to grant edit access to this field via field-level security. Click on the next button.

7. Now, add the custom field to the page layout. Select the layout that should include this field, and click the save button.

8. Click on the lead object in the nav bar. The lead object page will open. Here, you can see that the time field is created, and the Time Limit is present inside this lead detail.
