While working with an organization that uses Salesforce, I got a task where I needed to create big objects custom fields in Salesforce. To fulfill this requirement I use the big objects that are present under Data.
So after looking at the multiple solutions, I found a solution that helped me to create big objects and custom fields to support in Salesforce. If you want to learn how to create big objects custom fields in Salesforce Lightning as well as Salesforce Classic, you have come to the right place.
Big objects custom fields in Salesforce
In Salesforce big objects custom fields are defined to store the unique and different data for our big object once we define our big objects then we can add the custom fields. We can also build a custom relationship field that can link our big objects with another object in Salesforce.
As we add the custom fields in the custom objects the same way we add the custom field in the big objects.
When we create custom fields, we decide where the custom fields appear and what information they should contain, and we can also manage who can see them and who can change the field value.

How to create big objects custom fields in Salesforce Lightning
Here we are creating big objects in Salesforce Lightning. If you want to learn how to create custom big objects in salesforce lightning follow these steps:
Step-1: Login into your Salesforce lightning account, Go to the gear icon. Under the gear icon, there are two options present first one is Setup and another one is Service Setup. Here we are clicking on the Setup option.
Step-2: After clicking on the setup option, the setup page is open. Enter the big objects in the Quick Find Box and the big objects come at the top. Click on the big objects. And these big objects are present under the data in the left sidebar.
Step-3: After clicking on the big objects option, the big objects page is open. The big objects are custom objects for storing large customer data. This also involves data like web log files, history event data, and archival data. Once our big object is created we can correlate it with our core customer data by using tools like Asunc SOQL and SOQL.
Here we are seeing two big objects created and select one of the objects. Here we are selecting the USA Customer History.
Step-4: After clicking on the USA Customer History, the USA Customer History objects page is open. Here we can see the details and definition of the USA Customer History and below this, there is a custom fields section we want to create custom fields for this custom big object.
For creating the custom fields, click on the new button that is present at the center of the custom field section.
Step-5: After clicking on the New option, Choose the data type. Choose the data type to help us format the field input. Here we are selecting the text area(Long) data type which allows users to enter up to 131,072 characters on separate lines.
After clicking on the checkbox of the text area(Long) data type click on the next button that is present at the right top corner.
Step-6: After clicking on the Text Area(Long) data type, the USA Customer History new custom field page is open. Now enter the details related to the USA customer history new custom field. First, fill in the field label and here we are filling the field label as Feedback.
After that fill in the length and here in the length field the length related to the text area is by default filled then fill in the field name by simply clicking on the field and the field name is automatically fielded after that click on the next button.
Step-7: After filling in the complete information related to the new custom field, now established the field-level security and then click on the next button that is present at the right top corner.
Step-8: After establishing the field level security for the profile, now confirm the information by simply clicking on the save & New button for creating the custom fields or by simply clicking on the save button if you are done.
Here we are clicking on the save button that is present at the top right corner of the new custom field page.
Step-9: After clicking on the save button, the feedback custom fields and relationships are created successfully and present under the custom field and relationship section.

Here we are creating big objects custom fields in Salesforce Classic. If you want to learn how to create big objects custom fields in Salesforce Classic follow these steps:
1: First log in to the Salesforce account, when we log in to the account the Salesforce lightning edition is open. Moving to Salesforce Classic, click on the Profile picture. The Profile picture drop-down list is open. Under this profile picture list, there is an option to switch to Salesforce Classic. Click on it.
After clicking on the switch to Salesforce Classic option, click on the drop-down arrow of the username. The drop-down list is open, under this list Setup option is present below the My Profile option. Click on the Setup.
2: After clicking on the setup option, the setup page is open. Enter the big objects in the Quick Find Box and the big objects come at the top. Click on the big objects. And these big objects are present under the object in the left sidebar.
3: After clicking on the big objects option, the big objects page is open. The big objects are custom objects for storing large customer data. This also involves data like web log files, history event data, and archival data. 4: After clicking on the USA Customer Input, the USA Customer Input objects page is open. Here we can see the details and definition of the USA Customer Input and below this, there is a custom fields section we want to create custom fields for this custom big object.
For creating the custom fields, click on the new button that is present at the center of the custom field section.
5: After clicking on the New option, Choose the data type. Choose the data type to help us format the field input. Here we are selecting the text data type which allows users to enter any combination of letters and numbers.
After clicking on the checkbox of the text data type click on the next button that is present at the right top corner.
6: After clicking on the Text data type, the USA Customer Input new custom field page is open. Now enter the details related to the USA customer Input new custom field. First, fill in the field label and here we are filling the field label as Reviews.
After that fill in the length and here in the length field enter the maximum length for a text that you want to give then fill in the field name by simply clicking on the field and the field name is automatically fielded after that click on the next button.
7: After filling in the complete information related to the new custom field, now established the field-level security and then click on the next button that is present at the right top corner.
8: After establishing the field level security for the profile, now confirm the information by simply clicking on the save & New button for creating the custom fields or by simply clicking on the save button if you are done.
Here we are clicking on the save button that is present at the top right corner of the new custom field page.
9: After clicking on the save button, the feedback custom fields and relationships are created successfully and present under the custom field and relationship section.
