The salesforce percentage field is used to enter the percentage number. We can use the percentage field anywhere the user wants the calculation in percentage.
Recently, I worked in a Salesforce company in America. They were assigned the task of calculating the percentage of all the employees who work in the company. To fulfill this requirement, I used the percentage Field Type, which is present under the Field and Relationship.
Let’s discuss in more detail how to create the percentage field type in Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic.
Percentage field type in Salesforce
The percentage field type permits users to enter a percentage number. The system automatically converts the decimal number to a percentage.
For example, Santa Clara’s biggest school in the USA is where lots of students want to study. To be admitted to this school, they first clear the entrance exam. They get 90% marks for clearing the entrance exam.
To calculate the percentage of the student marks, the school examiner can choose the percentage field type, which easily converts numbers, decimals, and so on to percentages, such as entering 0.10.
However, the value loses its decimal value after 15 decimal places. If we enter the value more than 15 decimal places and add a percentage sign to the number, a runtime error occurs.
Now, let’s move further and see how to create the percentage field type in Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic.
