To create a Picklist (multi-select) field in Salesforce, firstly log in to your Salesforce account and follow the below steps.

Step:1- On the setup page of Salesforce Lightning, click on Object Manager as shown in the below picture.

Step:2- In the next window of SETUP Object Manager, select an object to create a (Multiselect) Picklist. We can choose any of the Standard or Custom Objects. In this case, we are choosing the standard object Business Brand.

Step:3- Now in the left sidebar, click on Fields and Relationships and then click on New as shown in the below picture.

Step:4- In this step, we will see a list of data types. Since we are going to create a Picklist (Multi-Select) so we will click on the radio button of Picklist (Multi-Select) as shown in the below picture and after that, click on Next button.

Step:5- Now we will enter the details in the fields. Here, we have named Picklist name Client’s cities and after that click on the radio button to Enter values, with each value separated by a new line. Fill the multiple values in the text region and then click on Next.

Step:6- In the next window, we will choose the default security setting and without making any changes, click on the Next button.

Step:7- In this step, In addition to the layout page, check the checkbox to select our custom object name. Click the Save button to redirect for creating a “Picklist (multi-select)” data type field.

Step:8- As we click on Save, we will be redirected to Fields and Relationships, and there in the list, you can see the newly created Client’s cities in the list with datatype Picklist (Multi-Select).

Now we have successfully created a Picklist (Multi-Select) in Salesforce Lightning.

How to create Picklist (multi-select) field in Salesforce Classic?

To create Picklist (multi-select) field in Salesforce Classic, log in to your Salesforce developer account and follow the below steps.

Step:1- If you are in Salesforce Lightning mode then to switch in the Salesforce Classic, click on the Profile as shown in the below picture and then click on Switch to Salesforce Classic.

Step:2- On the home screen of Salesforce Classic, click on the Setup tab.

Step:3- In the Setup window, scroll down and go to the Build section. Below the Build, section clicks on Customize and it will open a drop-down, from there click on any of the objects to add the Picklist field. In this case, I’m selecting Opportunities. After selecting the object click on Fields.

Step:4- In this window Opportunity Fields go under the heading Opportunity Custom Fields & Relationships and click on the New button as shown in the below picture.

Step:5- As we click on New, a new window New Custom Field will open, where we can see the list of Data Types to create a new custom field. We will select the data type Picklist (Multi-Select) and then click on the Next button.

Step:6- In this step, we will enter the details in the fields to create a Picklist (Multi-Select). In the Field Label, we will enter the name of the custom field.

In this case, we have named it New Leads and checked on the radio button option Enter values, with each value separated by a new line and after that, put the values in the text box and click on the Next button.

Step:7- Now, we will see the security permissions to add to the custom Picklist (Multi-Select) field, Here you can customize it according to your needs, but we will choose the default and without making any changes click on Next.

Step:8- In this step, we have the option to choose Page Layouts to add this field. We will select all page layouts to add this field, for that click on all checkboxes and after that click on the Save button

Step-9: Now, we have successfully created Picklist (Multi-Select) field “New Leads” and it is there in the list Opportunity Custom Fields & Relationships.
