Install Salesforce Data Loader for Windows

To install the Salesforce data loader for Windows, log in to your developer account and follow the below steps, the following steps are valid for both lightning and classic editions.

1. On the setup page of Salesforce, go to the Quick Find box and search then select Data Loader.

2. In the setup window of the data loader, click on the Downloads.

3. As we click on the downloads a pop-up window will appear for the confirmation of redirecting to the external URL, here click on the Confirm button.

4. In this window, click on Download Spring release for macOS and Windows, which is under the heading Salesforce Data Loader.

As we click on it the data loader will be downloaded in a zipped folder.

5. Go back to the setup of the data loader and click on the Developer Guide.

6. In this window, go to the left sidebar and select Install Data Loader -> Download and Install Data Loader.

Here we need to install a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), and in this window, we have a JRE Zulu OpenJDK version 17. To install this JRE click on for Windows link.

7. In this window, scroll down and click on the download dropdown of the latest version of Azul Zulu for Windows, and in the dropdown select the .msi option.

8. Open the downloaded folder of Azul Zulu and run the setup, In the first window of the setup click on the Next button.

9. In this window again click on the Next button and then click on the Install button in the next window.

10. Now we have completed the Azul Zulu jdk (Java Runtime Environment ) installation and in this window, click on the Finish button to exit the setup wizard.

11. Now open the downloaded folder of the data loader and extract all files from the zipped folder using a zipping tool.

12. After extracting the files click on the install.bat file to run the installation.

13. As we run the installation a command prompt will open asking for the confirmation of the installation path.

To confirm the installation path type Yes.

14. In the next step, you will be asked if you need a desktop shortcut and a start menu shortcut. Here type Yes in both questions if you want a desktop and start menu shortcut for Data Loader.

Now we have completed the installation of the Data Loader in Salesforce and the Data Loader can be accessed now from the desktop and also the start menu.
