In Salesforce, Data Loader is the most efficient data management tool since it is capable of handling bulk data transfers that include import, export, delete, and update data operations.

Assigning members to the campaigns is a very time-consuming task if you will do it manually. In this situation, Data Loader can be used to import mass users as campaign members.

In this example, we need the ID of the leads that we have to assign to the campaign and secondly, we also need the ID of the campaign in which the leads will be assigned as members.

The best way to get the Leads ID is to create a Lead report with the columns LeadID, and first name and last name fields for reference to identify the leads.

After creating the report save that report as a CSV file in your system from where it can be accessed later.

1. To import leads as Campaign members, first create a CSV file with header columns LeadId, CampaignID, and Status.

In this CSV file, enter the LeadIds from the exported Lead report.

2. To get the CampaignId, open the campaign in which you have to assign lead users then copy the 15-digit code from the URL and paste it into the column CampaignID.

Then, in the Status column, enter Sent for all records and save this CSV file in your system from where it can be accessed by the data loader.

3. Now open the data loader and log in with your credentials.

4. Click on the Insert button in the data loader.

5. In this step, activate the checkbox Show all Salesforce objects, then select the data object Campaign Member.

After this, select the CSV file that we have created with CampaignID and LeadID, then click on the Next button.

6. As we click on the Next button, the data loader will initialize the uploaded CSV file. Here, click on the OK button to proceed.

7. In this step, we will map the object fields with the header columns of the CSV file, and for that, click on the button Create or Edit a Map.

In the next window, click on the Auto-Match Fields to Columns, the object fields will be auto-matched with the column headers and in case they are not auto-matched then you have to drag the object field to the column mapping.

After mapping click on the OK button then click on the Next button to proceed.

8. In this step, select the location of the CSV file that will show the success and errors that occurred during the insert operation, and last click on the Finish button.

9. As we click on the Finish button, a warning message will appear regarding the data insert operation. Here, click on the Yes button to proceed.

10. Now, the insert will start, and after its completion, we will get a message of errors and successes that occurred during the insert. You can also view the inserted data in a CSV file by clicking on View Success.

At last, click on the OK button to close the data loader.

11. Now open the campaign in which you have imported the leads, then go to the section Campaign Members, and there we can see the imported leads as campaign members.
