The company where I work as a Salesforce admin runs monthly email campaigns to promote new products, offer discounts, and share company news. The marketing team needs a detailed HTML email status report to evaluate the performance of these campaigns.
They asked for a report that should include data such as recipient email, Date sent, and Date opened.
Now, I will explain how to create an HTML Email Status Report in Salesforce. This report can be created in Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic.
HTML Email Status Report in Salesforce
In Salesforce, the HTML Email Status Report tracks the activity of emails sent from the Salesforce Platform. Activity tracking includes the first, last, and number of times opened fields.
Enable HTML Email tracking in Salesforce
To create a report on the HTML email status, we need to first enable email tracking. For that, navigate to the setup page and follow the steps below.
1. On the Salesforce Lightning’s setup page, go to the Quick Find box and search, then select Activity settings.

2. In the activity setup, select the checkbox Enable Email Tracking and click on the Submit button to apply the changes.

With this, we have enabled email tracking, and now we will able to create a report on the email status in Salesforce.
Create HTML Email Status Report in Salesforce
To create an HTML email status report in Salesforce, navigate to the setup page of Salesforce and follow the steps below.
1. On Salesforce’s setup page, click on the App Launcher, search, and select Reports.

2. In the reports setup window, click on the New Report button. In the Select a Report Type, search and select HTML Email Status and click on the Start Report.

3. To generate the records for the report, click on the Filters tab and select the criteria to filter the record by date, which can be the Date Sent, the Date Opened, or the date Last Opened.
After that, select the range of records you want to include in the report and click Apply.

4. In the Columns field, search and select the column related to the HTML email status that you want to display in the custom report. Click on the Save and Run button.

5. Enter the Report Name and Report description then enter then select the folder for the report.

When we click on the Save button, the report is saved in the selected folder. It then runs in the next window, where you can see the generated report.
This way, you can create an HTML status report in Salesforce Lightning by following the above steps.
