How to Set the Checkbox Default Value in Salesforce
Here, we will learn how to set the checkbox default value in Salesforce.
Let’s take an example. Imagine I am the team lead in Avis Budget Group, a company based in the United States of America. It is a car rental company that utilizes Salesforce for customer engagement and to improve its rental services.
As a team lead, I have tasks in which I send a maximum of 100 cars on rent. If I complete the whole task in a day, then the checkbox IsCompleted is present under the task object that I created using the checkbox data type we set as checked. However, the default value I set was unchecked.
Here are the following steps:
1. Log into your Salesforce Account –> Click on the Setup option.

2. Select the Object Manager tab that is present on the nave bar.

3. Enter the Task in the Search box –> Select the Task object.

4. Click on the Fields & Relationships option.

5. To create the new checkbox field for setting the default value related to the task object, click on the new button.

6. Here, we select the checkbox data type. This checkbox datatype permits the users to select a true or false value. The true value represents the checked field, and the false value represents the unchecked field. Click on the Next Button.

7. Now, enter the details related to the checkbox field. First, fill out the Field Label as IsComplete. After that, enter the field name. Click on the next button.

8. Now establish field-level security. Here, we select the profile to which we want to grant edit access to this field via field-level security. Click on the next button.

9. Now add to the page layouts. Here, select the page layouts that should include their fields. The field will be added as the last field in the first two-column section of these page layouts. Click on the save button.

10. Click on the App Launcher at the top left corner. The drop-down menu will open. In the search box of the App Launcher, enter Sales. Select Sales, and the Sales page will open.
Here, we are selecting the task object. Now we create a new record; for this, click on the new button. Enter the details. Fill the task name car rental, then we can see that the Iscomplete checkbox is unchecked by default, and then click on the save button.

11. If we want to check the checkbox, click on the pencil icon in the field. We can check the Iscomple checkbox and click on the save button. That time, our Iscomplete checkbox is checked.

In this way, we understand how to set the checkbox default value in Salesforce Lightning.
