How to remove Custom Home page in salesforce lightning

In this Salesforce tutorial, we are going to learn How to remove home page in salesforce lightning.

We create Custom Home Page in Salesforce with the help of Lightning App Builder and later deploy them on the Salesforce application by overriding the default home page.

In Salesforce development, we require regular updates and modifications in our Salesforce applications. While making such a modification in my salesforce application, I had to remove a Custom Home Page which I had deployed earlier to an application “Custom Sales App Page“.

There is a solution to remove an app page, we will discuss that solution ahead in this tutorial.

Removing Home page in Salesforce lightning

In Salesforce Lightning, removing the home page is basically a deactivation of the Custom Home page from Salesforce applications. We can only remove the Custom Home page from the applications, but the salesforce Default Home page cannot be removed, instead, they can be overridden by Custom Home Page.

When we remove or deactivate a custom home page from the Salesforce application, that home page will be still there in the list of Lightning Pages in App Builder. A picture of the Home page which we will remove is shown below for reference.

How to remove Custom Home page in Salesforce lightning

To remove a Custom Home Page from the Salesforce application, log in to your Salesforce account and follow the below steps.

Step:1- On the Home Screen of Salesforce Lightning, search Lightning app builder in the Quick Find field, then below the User Interface click on the Lightning App Builder.

Step:2- Now on the setup of Lightning App Builder, you will see a list of Lightning Pages. We will select the home page we want to remove from a salesforce application. In this case, I’m choosing Custom Home Page. Click on the Edit button as shown in the below picture.

Step:3- As we click on Edit, Custom Home Page will open in the edit tab of Lightning App Builder. On the right side of the screen, click on the Activation button.

Step:4- In the new window Activation: Custom Home Page, go to the activation mode which you have selected at the time of activation of Custom Home Page. I selected the App and Profile mode of activation to activate this Custom Home Page. There we will click on Remove Assignments.

Step:5- Now we will see the list of applications in which this Custom Home Page was activated and deployed. In this case, we only activated this Home Page in the Sales Tech App. Click on the check box as shown in the below picture and then click on the Next button.

Step:6- Till now, we have removed the Custom Home Page from the application. As you can see in the below picture, Current Page Custom Home Page is overridden by the New Page System default i.e. the salesforce default home page. Click on the Save button to save the changes.

Now, to check the successful removal of the Custom Home Page, go back to the application in which Custom Home Page was deployed.

In the above picture, as you can see the Custom Home Page is removed and got overridden by the default Salesforce Home Page.
