In Salesforce, the Campaign Member Status contains one or more member status values defined for a Campaign. The status field in the Campaign member object shows the current status of the user response to the Campaign.

To mass update the Campaign member status with the Data loader, we will run a data export for the data object Campaign member and modify the exported data to update the status of campaign members to do that, follow the below steps.

Prepare a CSV file to update the Campaign member status

1. Open the data loader, log in with your credentials, and click the Export button.

2. In this step, check Show all Salesforce Objects, then select the data object Campaign Member and click on the Next button.

3. Select the query fields, clicking on Select all fields. We can also select the required fields such as ID, CampaignId, and Status. You can also select the reference field like Name.

Here, we can add a filter condition to filter the export by any desired criteria. For example, take Value as CampaignID, to only export Status values associated with a specific campaign.

The generated query will appear as follows:

4. At last, click on the Finish button.

5. Open the CSV file of the extracted data and change the Status values. After this, remove the records that we do not need to update the status in, then save the CSV file from where it can be accessed by the data loader.

In the status column, we can only enter the values that are available in the picklist field Status in the Campaign Member object.

1. Open the data loader and click on the Update button.

2. In this step, check Show all Salesforce Objects, then select the data object Campaign Members. After this, select the CSV file that we have created from the exported data and click on the Next button.

3. To map the object field names with the CSV header column, click Create or Edit a Map. Then, in the Mapping Dialog window, click on the Auto-Match field and columns.

If the object fields are not auto-matched, drag them to the column mapping. After this, click on the Next button, then click the OK button.

4. In this step, we will create a mapping. To do so, click on the button Create or Edit a Map; then, in the Mapping dialog window, click on Auto-Match Fields to Columns.

If the fields are not auto-matched to the header column, you must drag the Salesforce Object fields to the column mapping.

After mapping, click on the OK button and then click Next.

5. In this step, select the location for the success and error files so that they can be accessed later. At last, click on the Finish button.

6. A warning message about updating the existing records will appear on the screen as we click the Finish button. Click on the Yes button to proceed.

7. Now, the data update operation will start, and after its completion, a dialog box will display the number of errors and success of the record update. In this case, we got successful updates with zero errors, which means the data update succeeded.

At last, click on the OK button to close the Data Loader wizard.

8. To view the updated campaign member status, navigate to the Campaign tab and open the Campaign record in which you have updated the status for the campaign members.

In that record, scroll down to the section Campaign Members, where you will see the updated Status of the campaign members.

As we can see in the above image, the Status for the campaign members is updated according to the picklist values that we entered in the CSV file.
