What is a Security Token in Salesforce?
A Security Token in Salesforce is a unique identifier that Salesforce generates for each user.
It works like an extra password that keeps your account safe when you log in from outside Salesforce’s trusted network. For example, when using tools like Data Loader, Tableau, or other apps.
If you sign in from an untrusted location, Salesforce will ask you to type your normal password + security token together.
Why is the Security Token Important in Salesforce?
The Security Token is important because it protects the Salesforce account from unauthorized access.
When we log in from an unknown network or app, Salesforce can’t be sure it’s you. The Security Token provides an extra layer of protection; even if someone knows your username and password, they still can’t log in without this token.
This extra layer of security helps prevent hacking, data theft, and misuse of your Salesforce data.
Find Security Token in Salesforce

- Click on the Setup. -> Home Page. -> Click your avatar/profile picture in the top right -> Select Settings.
- In the left menu, search for Reset My Security Token in the search box. Click on it.
- Click Reset Security Token. Salesforce will send the new Security Token to your registered email address.
