In this Salesforce tutorial, we will understand how to add the Chatter Publisher to Salesforce when the Chatter Publisher is not visible in Salesforce.
Recently, I was working on the Accounts objects but when I open the record page, the Chatter component is showing empty. It is not showing any Post, Poll, or Question section.

So, after going through multiple solutions, I came across a general solution that worked for us. And in this Salesforce tutorial, we will discuss how to make the Chatter Component visible in Salesforce for both Classic and Lightning editions.

Reasons why Chatter Publisher is not visible in Salesforce
Before jumping to the solution, let us discuss the reasons why the Chatter Publisher component is not visible in Salesforce.
Here are a few common reasons for this issue in Salesforce:
Reason-1: Chatter Settings is not enabled in Salesforce
One of the common reasons why the Chatter Publisher Component is not visible in Salesforce is when the Chatter Settings are disabled.
So, to overcome this, we just need to enable it in Salesforce.
Reason-2: Chatter Publisher not added to the Lightning Page
Another reason behind this issue could be when the Chatter Publisher is added to the Lightning Page. This could also be possible when instead of adding the Chatter or Chatter Publisher, we only added the Chatter Feed.
Basically, the Chatter Feed component focuses on displaying the information posted or updated by other groups, users, and records. On the other side, the Chatter Publisher component allows us to create posts and quickly share information.
So, if we have added the Chatter Feed complement instead of Chatter or Chatter Publisher, we will only get access to feeds. And we will not be able to add posts, polls, or questions using Chatter Feed.
However, to overcome this issue, we can check the Lightning App Builder Page and check if Chatter Publisher is there or not.
Reason-3: Chatter Component is not added to the Page Layout
Now, let us assume that the Chatter Settings is Enabled and the Chatter Publisher component is also added to the Lightning Page. But, still, the Chatter Publisher is not visible in Salesforce.
So, another reason for this could be when the Chatter Publisher buttons are not added to the Page Layout. Basically, the Chatter Publisher component consists of multiple sections like Posts, Polls, and Questions.
If these sections are not added to the Page layout then also the Chatter Publisher will not be visible.

Now that we understood the various reasons why the Chatter Publisher component is not visible in the Salesforce Lighting edition.
Next, we can move forward and discuss the solution for each of the reasons.
Method-1: Checking if Chatter Settings is Enabled in Salesforce Lightning
Step-1: Once you log in to your Salesforce Lightning account, open the Home Setup page. Now, to open the Home Setup page, click on the gear icon (⚙️) and then click on the Setup option.
Step-2: Next, move to the Quick Find search box and search for Chatter and click on the Chatter Settings option given under the Feature Settings > Chatter section.

Step-3: Next, from the Chatter Settings page, click on the Edit button and then tick mark (✔️) the Enable option given under Chatter Settings section. After selecting (✅) the checkbox, click on the Save button to enable the Chatter Settings.

Method-2: Checking if Chatter Publisher is added to the Lightning App Builder Page
Here we will cover the steps to check if Chatter Publisher is added to the Lightning App Builder Page.
Step-4: Next, click on the App Launcher icon given in the top-left corner. Then search and open the required object.
Step-5: Once we select any of the objects from the App Launcher, it will open a list of records for that particular object. Next, select a record and open a record detail page.
Step-6: From the record details page, click on the gear icon (⚙️) and then click on the Edit Page option.

Page-7: The above step will open the Lightning App Builder page. On this page, click on the Chatter section and then click on the Delete icon (🗑) given on the component. This will just delete the component from the Chatter section and the Chatter section will still exist.

Step-8: Now, move the left-side menu, and under Components search for Chatter component.
Note: If you are unable to find the Chatter component in the Component section, please refer this tutorial: Chatter not available in Salesforce Lightning App Builder
Step-9: Next, drag the Chatter component from the left side and drop it inside the empty Chatter tab section.

Step-10: Next, click on the Activation option given next to the Save button. Then choose the Default category for the page then Save the page.

Here we kept the page as Org Default for only Desktop in Salesforce Lightning.
Method-3: Checking if Chatter components are added to the Page Layouts of the object
To follow these steps, exist the Lightning App Builder page and come back to the Home Setup page in Salesforce Lightning.
Step-11: From the Home Setup page, click on the Object Manager option given in the navigation bar. Then from the list of objects, choose the required object.

For example, we selected the Accounts object from the list.
Step-12: Once we click on the object, it opens the object details page, and from the side menu, we need to click on the Page Layout option.

Step-13: Next, From the list of page layouts, select the required layout. In our case, we will select the Account Layout option. This will open the Page Layout page for the Accounts objects.

Step-14: Next, move to the Mobile & Lightning Actions section and drag the Post, Poll, and Question buttons. And then drop these buttons into Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions tab.
In the end, click on the Save button to save the changes.

After executing all these steps, if we check the Chatter section, we can see that the Chatter Publisher is visible.

Chatter Publisher is not visible in Salesforce Classic
In the previous section, we focused on solving the issue for the Lightning edition. However, in this section, we will discuss the solution when Chatter Publisher is not visible in Salesforce Classic.
However, the Chatter component in the case of Salesforce Classic is a little different when compared to Salesforce Lightning. In Salesforce Classic, we will not see the Chatter section directly. Instead, all the Chatter options like Post, Question, and Poll comes under the Feed section.

For the Classic Edition also, we will start by checking if Chatter Settings is enabled or not.
Method-1: Checking if Chatter Settings is Enabled in Salesforce Classic
1: First, log in to our Salesforce Classic account and open the Home page. For the Home page, click on the Setup option to open the Setup page.
2: From the Setup page, look for the Quick Find search box and use it to search for the Chatter Settings option.
3: Click on the Chatter Settings option given under the Build > Customize > Chatter section. This will open a Chatter Settings page in Salesforce Classic.

4: On the Chatter Settings page, make sure that the Chatter Settings are enabled. However, if it is not enabled, click on the Edit button and tick mark (✅) the Enable option given in Chatter Settings. In the end, click on the Save button.

Method-2: Checking if Chatter components are added to the Page Layouts of the object
As in the case of Salesforce Classic, we cannot access the Lightning App Builder, we will move to the next method. Here in the section, we will see how to check if Chatter components are added to the Page Layouts of the object.
The steps for this task are given below.
5: First, from the Quick Find search box, search for the required object and click on the Page Layouts option under it.

In our case, we are looking for the Accounts object.
6: Next, From the list of page layouts, select the required layout and click on the Edit button given corresponding to it.
7: Next, move to the Quick Actions section and drag the Post, Poll, and Question buttons. And then drop these buttons into Quick Actions in the Salesforce Classic Publisher section. At last, click on the Save button to save changes in Salesforce Classic.

So, with this, we have successfully seen how to add the Chatter Publisher to Salesforce Classic when Chatter Publisher is not visible in Salesforce Classic.
