In this Salesforce tutorial, we will learn how to activate a Custom Home page in Salesforce Lightning.
Activating a Home Page in Salesforce Lightning means deploying a Home Page on a Salesforce Lightning application. By deploying this Custom Home page on the Salesforce lightning application, it replaces the default Salesforce home page and the Custom Home page becomes a default home page.
How to activate Custom Home page in Salesforce Lightning
To activate a Custom Home Page, first log in to your Salesforce developer account and follow the below steps.
Step:1- On the Home page on Salesforce Lightning, you will see a Quick Find tab. In that tab search for a lightning app builder, then below the User Interface you will see Lightning App Builder, click on that.

Step:2- As we click on Lightning App Builder, a new window SETUP Lightning App Builder will open. There is the list of Lightning Pages we will choose the Home Page and we will activate it on an application. In this case, I’m choosing Custom Home Page. On the left side of the page name, click on the Edit button as shown in the below picture.

Step:3- On clicking Edit, Custom Home Page will open in the customization tab of App Builder. Now to begin the activation process, click on the Activation button.

Step:4– A new Pop-up window, Activation: Custom Home Page will open. In this window, we will see three modes of activation of the Home Page, mentioned as The org default, The app default, and Any app and profile. We will discuss all three modes in the below steps.
- The org default – When we select this mode of activation, it will make the Custom Home page visible to the whole organization or the company. To select this one click on Assign as Org Default.

2. The app default – In this mode, this Custom Home Page will be displayed on specified apps and override or replaces the default home page.

3. App and Profile – In this mode of activation, we will assign apps to the Custom Home Page and also give the option to select the profiles, who can have access to this Home page.

From the above three modes of activation, we are going to choose the third one i.e. Assign to Apps.
Step:5- After clicking Assign to Apps, we have to choose the application in which we want to activate or deploy this home page. In this case, we are selecting the application Sales Tech App. You can choose any of the custom or default applications. After selecting the application, click on the Next button.

Step:6- In this step, we will choose the profiles which we will display on Home Page. In this case, I’m selecting the System Administrator as a profile.

Step:7- On clicking the Next button, we will see another window of Review Assignments. Here. we will see four Columns named App, Profile, Current Page, and New Page. In this App will display the application in which this Home Page is activated, Profile displays the profile we have selected for this Home Page, Current Page will display the current home page of the application and the New Page will display the Custom Home Page.
We will click on Save to complete the activation process.

Step:8- Now we will go back to the Application in which we have activated the Custom Home Page. There you will see the default Home Page is overridden by the Custom Home Page as shown in the below picture.
