You can set the tab style in Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic. However, before setting the tab style, it is always recommended that you create an object in Salesforce.
When you are creating a custom object, at that moment, you can set up the tab style. But if later on you want to change the tab style of the Salesforce tab you can also do that.
By default, there are multiple salesforce tab icons; you can choose from them.
Change Object Icon Salesforce Lightning
Step-1: Click on the “Gear” icon, then select the “Setup” option.

Step-2: Click on the “Quick Find” box and search for “Tabs”. Once you find it, click on it.

Step-3: You will get the list of the custom tabs that you have created for custom objects. Find out whose tab style you want to change and click on the “Edit” button next to it.

Step-4: You will find a field with the name “Tab Style”. Click on the “Magnifying Glass” next to it.

Step-5: Click the magnifying glass, and a window with various styles will appear. Choose an icon close to the object name.
For example, if the object name is Break, then Cup could be the most appropriate icon.

Step-6: When you click the icon name, the icon for the custom object in Salesforce is set. Click on the “Save” button to complete the process.

Salesforce Change Object Icon in Classic
Below are the steps to change the object icon in Salesforce Classic:
Step-1: Click on the “Setup” option located at the top of the Salesforce Classic user interface.

Step-3: From the custom object tabs, click on the “Edit” button whose icon you want to change.
Step-4: Click on the “Magnifying Glass” on the “Tab Style” field.

How to Create Custom Tab Style in Salesforce
Suppose you have created an object in Salesforce and want to set a tab style for it, but you have found that the icon selector list does not include a relevant object icon. So you can create custom tab styles according to your requirements in Salesforce.
Here are a few things you should know before getting started:-
- The size of the image must be 20Kb or less.
- You should have permission to access the file
- The file should be uploaded to the documents
You can create custom tab styles in both Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic.The following are the steps to create a custom object icon in Salesforce:
Salesforce Lightning:
Step-1: Click on the “Gear” icon -> Select the “Setup” option -> Search “Tabs” in “Quick Find” -> Edit “Tab” for which to create a custom tab style.
Salesforce Classic:
Step-1: Click on the “Setup” -> Serch “Tabs” in “Quick Find” -> Edit “Tab” for which you want to create your own tab style.
Step-2: Click on the “Magnifying Glass” from the “Tab Style”.

Step-3: Click on the “Create your own style” button present at the top center of the tab style selector screen.

Step-4: Click on the “Magnifying Glass” on the “Color” field to set up the background color of the tab icon.

Step-5: Click on the “Insert an image” button to add an icon image in Salesforce.
Select the image from the file location of choice since you have already created a new document and stored the image inside that folder.

Step-6: After selecting the image, click on the “OK” button to apply the changes in Salesforce.
