While working with an organization that uses Salesforce, I got a task where I needed to create custom big objects in Salesforce. To fulfill this requirement I use the big objects that are present under Data.

So after looking at the multiple solutions, I found a solution that helped me to create custom big objects to support in Salesforce. If you want to learn how to create custom big objects in Salesforce Lightning as well as Salesforce Classic, you have come to the right place.

Custom big objects in Salesforce

In Salesforce big objects are defined as a process that permits us to store and control an enormous amount of data on the Salesforce platform. It can store millions of records on the salesforce platform in a single time.

It also gives compatible performance for billions or more records and with the standard APIs, the big objects are available in our external system or in our org.

There are two types of big objects in Salesforce. The first one is standard big objects and the second one is custom big objects.

Standard big objects: These standard objects are defined as an object which is involved in the salesforce product. The standard big object involves the FirldHistoryArchive and this is also the part of the Field Audit Trial Product that permits us to reserve up to history data of 10 years.

Custom big objects: The custom big object is defined as an object which we can be created in a setup this setup option is available under the gear icon and the user can define this custom big object as per their requirements. We can execute this custom big object by using the metadata API.

Here we are creating custom big objects in Salesforce Lightning. If you want to learn how to create custom big objects in salesforce lightning follow these steps:

Step-1: Login into your Salesforce lightning account, Go to the gear icon. Under the gear icon, there are two options present first one is Setup and another one is Service Setup. Here we are clicking on the Setup option.

Step-2: After clicking on the setup option, the setup page is open. Enter the big objects in the Quick Find Box and the big objects come at the top. Click on the big objects. And these big objects are present under the data in the left sidebar.

Step-3: After clicking on the big objects option, the big objects page is open. The big objects are custom objects for storing large customer data. This also involves data like web log files, history event data, and archival data. Once our big object is created we can correlate it with our core customer data by using tools like Asunc SOQL and SOQL.

For creating the big custom objects, there is a new button present at the center of the big objects page. Click on the new button.

Step-4: After clicking on the new button the New big objects page is open. Now here we can fill in the complete information related to big objects. Firstly fill out the label, here we are filling the label as USA Customer History, and after that fill in the plural label as USA Customer Histories.

Step-5: After filling in the plural label then fill in the object name by simply clicking on the object name field after that click the check of the context-sensitive help setting and here we are clicking on the open the standard salesforce.com help and training window.

After that click on the save button that is present at the bottom and the top of the big object page.

Step-6: After clicking on the save button, the big object USA Customer history is created successfully and the details related to USA customer history are shown we can also edit and delete this USA customer history big object by simply clicking on the edit and delete button.

How to create custom big objects in Salesforce Classic

Here we are creating custom big objects in Salesforce Classic. If you want to learn how to create custom big objects in Salesforce Classic follow these steps:

1: First log in to the Salesforce account, when we log in to the account the Salesforce lightning edition is open. Moving to Salesforce Classic, click on the Profile picture. The Profile picture drop-down list is open. Under this profile picture list, there is an option to switch to Salesforce Classic. Click on it.

After clicking on the switch to Salesforce Classic option, click on the drop-down arrow of the username. The drop-down list is open, under this list Setup option is present below the My Profile option. Click on the Setup.

2: After clicking on the setup option, the setup page is open. Enter the big objects in the Quick Find Box and the big objects come at the top. Click on the big objects. And these big objects are present under the object in the left sidebar.

3: After clicking on the big objects option, the big objects page is open. The big objects are custom objects for storing large customer data. This also involves data like web log files, history event data, and archival data. 5: After clicking on the save button, the big object USA Customer Input is created successfully and the details related to USA customer input are shown we can also edit and delete this USA customer input big object by simply clicking on the edit and delete button.
