I was given the responsibility of sending an email with an image for the promotion of the new product. So for this, I create an email template in Salesforce Lightning with an image.

How to add image to Salesforce Lightning Email Template

In Salesforce, there are two ways to add an image to the Salesforce Lightning Email Template which are as follows:

Using Browse or Upload option

In the Browser or Upload option, we upload an image directly from our computer. We get this option in the dropdown menu of the Image button in the email editor.

Using Web Image

In the Web Image option, we upload the image that is hosted on the website. In this option, we will enter the URL of the image that we want to add to the email template.

On successful add of an image, Salesforce retrieves the image from the website and adds it to the email template.

Add Image Using Browse or Upload option

Here, are the steps to add an image to Salesforce Lightning Email Template using the browse or upload option.

Step 1: Log in to Salesforce Lightning mode, navigate to the right corner of the page, click on the gear icon (⚙), and from the dropdown menu (⬇) select “Setup”.

Step 2: To add an image to an email template. Move to the left-hand side, click on “App Launcher”, search for “Email Templates”, and select it.

Step 3: Now, we will see the list of all the available email templates. Choose the email template in which you want to add an image and click on it to open. In this, I select the “Welcome Customer” email template.

Step 4: It opens the template details, now click on the “Edit” button on the top right corner of the page.

Step 5: It successfully opens the “Welcome Customer” email template in edit mode. Now, scroll down and move to the “Message Content” section to add an image.

Step 6: In the email editor, there is a toolbar on the top with various buttons that are used for formatting the email. To add an image, click on the “Image” dropdown (⬇) menu.

Step 7: Click on the “Browse or Upload” option as our main goal in this section is to learn to add an image using the upload option.

Step 8: It will open up the dialog box. Now search and select the image that we want to add to the email template if it is already uploaded and move to step 10. Otherwise, proceed with step 9.

Step 9: Click on “Upload” to select the image from the computer.

Step 10: Click the “Insert” button to add an image to the email template.

Step 11: It will successfully add an image. We can adjust the size of the image by dragging its corners to fit it into a specific area of the email template.

Step 12: Now add the message and click on the “Save” button to save the email template with an image.

Add Image Using Web Image option

Here, are the steps to add an image to Salesforce Lightning Email Template using the web image option.

Step 1: After logging into Salesforce Lightning mode, click on the gear icon (⚙) in the top right corner of the page and select “Setup” from the dropdown menu (⬇).

Step 2: On the left-hand side, in the “App Launcher”, search for “Email Templates” and click on it to add an image to the email template.

Step 3: We’ll get a list of all the email templates that are accessible. Choose the email template in which we want to add an image and to open click on it. But, if you want to create a new template, proceed with step 4.

Step 4: Click on the “New Email Template” button.

Step 5: Fill up all the mandatory fields such as “Email Template Name”, “Subject”, etc.

Step 6: Enter the message in the “Message Content” section.

Step 7: To add an image to the email template, use the toolbar at the top of the email editor, which has a number of buttons. Click the “Image” dropdown button (⬇) to add an image.

Step 8: Click on the “Web Image” option as our main goal in this section is to learn to add an image using the web image option.

Step 9: It will open up the dialog box. Enter the “Image URL” of the image that we want to add to the email template and “Image Description”.

Step 10: To add an image to the email template, click the “Insert” button.

Step 11: An image will be added successfully. By dragging the image’s corners, we may adjust its size to fit it into a particular space on the email template.

Step 12: Click on the “Save” button to save the email template with an image.
