When you shift from the Salesforce Classic to the Salesforce Lightning experience, you will not get the “Open Activities” or “Activities History” list. However, in place of this, in Salesforce Lightning, we have an Activity tab.
Now, I got a requirement to customize this Activity tab in Salesforce Lightning where I need to remove the NEW EVENT button from Salesforce Lightning. So, in this tutorial, we will understand how to remove the new event button from the Activity tab in Salesforce Lightning.
How to remove new event from activity tab in Salesforce lightning
This Activity tab in Salesforce Lightning is also known as Activity Timeline. And the role of this tab is to show activities related to various objects. These objects include Accounts, Contacts, Cases, Policies, Insurance, etc.
Now, under the Activity Timeline, we got multiple buttons like Log a call, New Task, and Email. However, there will be instances based on different object that does not require all these buttons.
For example, I was working on the records of the Accounts objects. The records include records from states like Arizona, Texas, New York, etc. And for the Account object, I don’t want the new event option.
So, here are some of the steps that we can follow to remove new event from activity tab in Salesforce lightning.
Step 1: First, open the Setup page by clicking on the gear icon and then click on the Setup option. This will open the Home Setup page.
Step 2: Next, click on the Object Manager option, and click on the Account object from the list of objects. This will open the Object Manager page for the Account object.
Step 3: On the next page, move to the left menu section and click on the Page Layout option.
Step 4: After this, from the list of Page Layouts click on the Account Layout option. This will open the Layout page for the Account object.
Step 5: Next, scroll down to the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section. And then drag the new event button from Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section to the Mobile & Lightning Actions section given under the Account Layout section.
Step 6: After completing the above step, click on the Save button to save the changes we made.
Step 7: In the last, we can check if the New Event button is removed by opening any records for the Account Object.
