How to Log a call on Multiple Contacts in Salesforce

In this Salesforce tutorial, we will learn to Log a call on multiple contacts in Salesforce. We will discuss logging a call on various contacts in Salesforce lightning and Salesforce classic versions respectively.

In Salesforce, we log calls for contacts with a feature provided by Salesforce called Log a Call. Call logs can ensure the most effective deployment of maintenance resources to keep a network operating at peak efficiency.

While Working in the Sales team of our organization, which uses Salesforce CRM to track customer activity and data. Once, our Sales team attended an event and from there they got many potential contacts for our business.

So, for further interaction with them, we had to log a call with them but the problem was if we log a call separately for every contact it will be so much time-consuming and difficult to track the contacts separately.

Later we decided to make a single log call for all the contacts to ease the management and tracking of contacts. Now, I will tell you, how I handled this situation and tell you to log a call in Multiple Contacts with the help of the examples in Salesforce Lightning and Salesforce Classic.

To Log a Call on Multiple Contacts in Salesforce Lightning, first log in to your Salesforce account and follow the below steps.

Step 1- On the Setup page of Salesforce Lightning, go to the Quick Find search box on the left side of the screen and there search for activity settings and then click on it as shown in the below picture.

Step 2- In Activity Settings, activate the check box Allow Users to Relate Multiple Contacts to Tasks and Events and then click on Submit button.

Step 3- After making the changes in Activity Settings, click on the App launches, and from there select the Service app.

Step 4- In the Service app, click on the Accounts tab as shown in the below picture, from there we will access the contacts to log a call.

Step 5- In the Accounts, select an account from the list of created accounts. In this case, I have selected the account Wolkswagon Machines which is an entity of our organization.

Step 6- In this step, go to the Activity section on the right side of the screen and there click on the call log icon as shown in the below picture then in the Name field select the contacts you want to add to the call log. After selecting multiple contacts click on the Save button.

As we click on the Save button, a Call log with multiple contacts will be created as we can see in the below picture.

Log a Call on Multiple Contacts in Salesforce Classic

To log a call on Multiple Contacts in Salesforce Classic, first log in to your Salesforce developer account and follow the below steps.

Step 1- In case you are logged in to the salesforce Lightning version, then click on the User profile and click Switch to the Classic version as shown in the below picture.

Step 2- On the Home page of Salesforce Classic click on the Setup tab as shown in the below picture.

Step 3- On the Setup page of Salesforce Classic, go to the Quick Find Search Bar on the left side of the screen and search Activity Settings, and then click on the same from the dropdown as shown in the below picture.

Step 4- In the Activity Settings activate the checkbox Allow Users to Relate Multiple Contacts to Tasks and Events and then click on Submit button.

Step 5- Till now we have enabled the function to create a multiple call log, Now click on the Accounts tab to access the contacts for logging the multiple contacts in a single call log.

Step 6- In this step, go to the Activity History section and there click on the Log a Call button as shown in the below picture.

Step 7- In the Log a Call window, go to the Name field and there first click on the lookup icon as shown in the below picture to select multiple contacts.

Step 8- As we click on the lookup icon, a pop-up window will open to select contacts. Here first click on the Find button and select the contacts from the Available column and after selecting the contact click on Add button to push the contact in the Selected column.

Here we have a limit to adding up to 50 contacts to the list. After selecting the contacts for the call log click on the Done button.

Step 9- As we click on the Done button, in the next window we will see the Contacts field with multiple contacts. Now click on the Save button.

As we click on the Save button a log call with multiple contacts will be created as we can see in the picture below the logged call with multiple contacts is displayed by the contact we selected first.

Now we have successfully created a Call log in Multiple Contacts in Salesforce Classic with the help of the above steps.
