In Salesforce development we use Picklist (Multi-Select) field so that users have multiple options available for specific fields in a Salesforce object and for the options, values are parsed in this field. These values are custom created and can be added or deactivated when required.

How to Deactivate the Picklist (Multi-Select) Values in Salesforce Lightning
To Deactivate the Picklist (Multi-Select) values in Salesforce Lightning, log in to your Salesforce developer account and follow the below steps.
Step 1- On the Setup page of Salesforce Lightning, click on the Object Manager tab as shown in the below picture.

Step 2- In the Object Manger, select the object having an existing Picklist (Multi-Select) field. In this case, I have an existing Picklist (Multi-Select) field in the object Opportunity.

Step 3- In the setup window of Opportunity, go to the Details in the left sidebar and click on Fields & Relationships.

Step 4- From Fields & Relationships, select the Picklist (Multi-Select) field. In this case, I have an existing Picklist (Multi-Select) field “New Leads”.

Step 5- As we click on the Picklist (Multi-Select) field another window will open. In this window, scroll down and go to the Values section consisting of a list of Picklist (Multi-Select) field values. Now to deactivate any value, click on the Deactivate button given on the left side of the values.
I will select the Picklist (Multi-Select) value Ohio Enterprises to deactivate it.

Step 6- On clicking the Deactivate button, a pop-up window will open asking for confirmation for the deactivation of the Salesforce Picklist (Multi-Select) value. Click on the OK button to confirm the deactivation.

As we click on the OK button the Picklist (Multi-Select) value Ohio Enterprises will get deactivated and removed from the list of Values. We will see the deactivated value in the Inactive Values section as shown in the below picture.

Now we have successfully deactivated the picklist multi-select value in Salesforce Lighting.

How to Deactivate the Picklist (Multi-Select) Values in Salesforce Classic
To Deactivate the Picklist (Multi-Select) values in Salesforce Classic, log in to your Salesforce developer account and follow the below steps.
Step 1- In case you are in Salesforce Lightning mode, then to switch into classic mode click on the profile picture on the upper-right side of the screen as shown in the below picture. There click on Switch to Salesforce Classic option.

Step 2- On the home screen of the Salesforce Classic mode, click on the Setup as shown in the below picture.

Step 3- In the Setup window, go to the Build section in the left sidebar and click on Customize dropdown and select the object with an existing Picklist (Multi-Select) field. In this case, I will select object Products having Picklist (Multi-Select) field. Now click on the Fields as shown below picture.

Step 4- In the window Product Fields, go to the section Custom Fields & Relationships and click on the Picklist (Multi-Select) label. In this case, I have Picklist (Multi-Select) with the label New Car Products.

Step 5- In the Values section, we will see a list of Picklist (Multi-Select) values. From here I will deactivate the value Window Motor, for that click on the Deactivate button on the left side of the Picklist (Multi-Select) value.

Step 6- As we click on the Deactivate button, a pop-up window will open for the confirmation of the deactivation of the Picklist (Multi-Select) value Window Motor.

On clicking the OK button Picklist (Multi-Select) value Window Motor will get deactivated and removed from the list of Values. We will see the deactivated value in the Inactive Values section as shown in the below picture.

Now, we have successfully deactivated the Picklist (multi-select) value Window Motor.
