What does activating global picklist value mean
In Salesforce, activating the global picklist value means making the global picklist value available for selection within a global picklist setlist. It allows the client to select the predefined values from the picklist field.
In addition, when we create a new global picklist field value, it is by default activated. To meet our needs, we can, however, deactivate the enable global picklist field value. If you want to learn read:
Let’s understand this concept with the help of an example. Suppose we have a global picklist called “Property Type” with values such as “House”, “Apartment”, “Condo”, “Townhouse”, and “Commercial”.
Due to some reason, the real estate organization decides to temporarily hold on to “Townhouse” type property for some period of time. Now, the organization has decided to resume the “Townhouse” type property again.
For this, we will activate the global picklist value “Townhouse” from the property type global picklist value set. Now, wherever a user will see the picklist, they will not get an option named “Townhouse”.
With this, we have understood the meaning of activating the global picklist value in Salesforce with an example. Now, we will proceed and learn to activate the global picklist value in Salesforce Lightning.
